During decades of close cooperation with the AGRANA sugar factories, experience has been gained in almost every area of sugar production, from extraction and juice purification to the evaporating station and crystallisation.

Special attention is also consistently paid to the quality of the source product, the sugar beet, and the end product, white sugar. Some of the areas which have received particularly attention in recent times are described in more detail in the sections below.

The department’s staff are members of national and international professional committees (FZÖ, VDZ, ICUMSA, ESST, IIRB) and contribute to a wide range of conferences.

The pooled experience is also disseminated through internal courses and lectures (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna; FH Wiener Neustadt; Campus Tulln).
