AGRANA PRESENTS NEW DEVELOPED BIO-PLASTIC OUT OF THERMOPLASTIC STARCH

AGRANA announces the market launch of its bio-plastic component AGENACOMP®.

Date: 14.12.2018

At a press conference at the AGRANA Research & Innovation Center (ARIC) in Tulln, CEO Marihart presented the innovative properties of the newly developed bio-plastics AGENACOMP®. This bio-plastic compound has been developed at ARIC through years of intensive research and consists of 50 percent thermoplastic starch and a biodegradable polyester that is 100 percent biodegradable in house compost.
CEO Marihart: "For the first time ever, the bioplastics market has a product with such a high proportion of starch (only around 25% available on the market) that enables complete home compostability. The TÜV-certified composting tests (OECD 301 and OECD 302) resulted in 100% rotting without microplastic residues, "explains AGRANA CEO Johann Marihart. "The applications of AGRANA's newly developed bio-plastic compound are diverse, ranging from its suitability as a knot bag for fruit and vegetables, to a more powerful carry-on bag, to use as a packaging film."
With the development of this bio-plastic ARIC has made an important contribution to the sustainability strategy of AGRANA and thus to the protection of our environment.
